Annie James

Annie James is a doctoral student at the Institute of Environmental Science & Technology at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (ICTA-UAB). She is investigating ideas within anti/post-capitalism and eco-socialism as they apply to forest conservation practices, using forests in Western India as her empirical base. She aims to conceptualize alternatives to mainstream conservation, situating them within the broader demand for an anti-capitalist transformation. She has previously worked in India with different CSOs on issues of social and environmental justice. She holds an MA from the Institute of Development Studies at the University of Sussex.
